The 2nd Clinical Base of University Hospital "Dr. Georgi Stranski" in Pleven is part of the largest and oldest medical institution in northern Bulgaria. Established in 1865 by personal order of Mithat Pasha, the hospital began as a charitable institution to care for the poor and sick, with its first staff comprising Dr. La Brus and two attendants. The hospital played a significant role during the Russo-Turkish War, serving as a key site for medical care and innovation, and has since evolved into a modern university hospital affiliated with Medical University – Pleven.
